| In the space provided below, please insert a general account of the company’s activities in the financial year to which the report relates, including a description of how they have benefited the community. | ||||||||||
The company provides workshops and classes to support community-based initiatives, activities and a variety of events in and around Kirklees. These workshops are predominantly offered to community groups, schools and other organisations around the area, to help make dance and the creative arts accessible to those who may not ordinarily be able to attend a dance school or club. The company has benefitted the community by supporting and promoting inclusivity within community group events by fostering both the physical and mental benefits of community dance. Young people and adults are offered the opportunity to participate in dance, theatre and creative activities which would assist them in enriching their lives, achieving personal goals, raising self-esteem and confidence, all with the aim of enabling a healthier body and mind. Specific examples of the impact resulting from the company’s activities include during COVID-19, where many members of the community expressed the feelings of anxiety, isolation and depression. Combating these emotions through exercise boosted the energy of participants whilst simultaneously encouraging safe, social integration. |
